As someone who's never been outside of the U.S. I was looking for a book that would give me the basics of what I needed to know as I begin my days as a world traveler. I always assumed I should do this with another person, but as time goes by I'm realizing I just need to get out there and see the world.
This book is INVALUABLE for the first time traveler, there are so many tips and hints that I have begun highlighting and indexing this book for quick reference. Her language is very to the point and honest as she shares her personal experiences, both positive and negative.
I definitely have a better understanding of what I might face on my first trip and I have an excellent starting point for planning my first trip. It is no longer a "huge scary unknown" and I'm think that my first foreign trip might not be as part of a tour group after all.
I highly recommend this book to anyone else who is new to traveling. Sorry PBS, but this book is a keeper!
