As always, C.J. Box delivers another riveting novel with game warden Joe Pickett. It's always winter in Wyoming it seems, and of course Joe has to deal with a LOT of snow and ice when he stumbles upon his latest murder mystery.
The girls are grown, and MaryJane and Joe are feeling their empty nest, and of course MaryJane. plus Joe's sometimes sidekick Nate are front and center in the twisted storylines, with federal agents, extremists, Gov. Allen all finding ways to keep Joe off the track. But help comes in the least expected way.
Box has a way with words that keeps me turning the pages, and keep reading until all the ends tie together. Great plots and characters.
But if you haven't read one of these novels yet, start with the first in the series, and read in order. This is novel 23 in the series.
