This was better than "First Drop of Crimson" but not better than the Bones/Cat series. I think the description in the back is generic and doesn't really give you a glimpse of the story. For me, this was about Mancheres being sick of living and planning to end it all when Kira interrupted. Add on a crazy, jealous Uncle meddling with things and you have the story.

I do like the back story of both characters, although I think Frost spent enough time on Kira's back story emotionally. I know what happened but I didn't really feel for the characters. I really like Kira's attitude towards crisis. I enjoyed the characters but again the witty dialogue wasn't really there like the Bones/Cat series. There is a little more humor than "First Drop of Crimson."

Great to see other characters from the series pop up. I think it's worth the read if you are into the series. I wouldn't recommend it as a stand alone book though.
