Detective Vince O'Malley shows up in a small town asking questions about and old library book and kidnapped children. Vince was too involved in the kidnapping/murder investigations in his home town and told to take a vacation. Instead he follows an obscure clue that leads him to Holly Newman. Twenty years ago, Holly saw her little sister, Ivy, kidnapped while walking home from school. Ivy was never seen again. It's taken years for Holly to overcome her guilt and get on with her life. Now when things are going well, Vince is awakening the memories that Holly's mind has kept hidden...memories that may uncover secrets in this small town.
This is the first romantic suspense book I've read by this author. There seemed to be a good balance between the romance and suspense. The heroine suffers from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder which I found a very unique premise. The hero is the usual guy who "doesn't do relationships". But I really didn't buy into their romance. It felt like there was something lacking. I was totally drawn into the suspense portion of the book from the first page. It kept me turning pages, even after I figured out the big secret and who the villain was in the middle of the book. I don't know why the police didn't see it sooner. Maybe they don't read romantic suspense books. ;) My rating: 4 Stars.
