Great fictionalized story about a Korean family living in 1940's Korea under Japanese rule. The author inserts people and facts from her own background and history and tells the story from the viewpoints of a young girl and her brother. I've read a lot of books set during WW2, most of which are set in Europe and focus on the Jews and the holocaust. It was interesting to learn what was happening in a different part of the world and how the Koreans were affected during the war.
