There seems to be a lot of mystique attached to this technique, as if it is so different from any other type of knitting. In a way, it is just Fair Isle except that you twist the carried yarn into the stitches nearly every stitch. This makes a more durable fabric, which is firmly knit and very thick and warm. With a bit of trial and error, you could probably figure it out on your own, but why, when Ms. Ling has done so for you? A few tricks learned over centuries in Scandinavia make it easier, such as having the yarn rolled into one ball rather than trying to keep two balls from tangling.
