Despite the "plaid" theme, the quilts in this book could just as easily be classified as "scrap" quilts. Plaids are only bit players in many of the designs. In fact, one quilt has no plaid at all except in the border. There is one stunning quilt--plaid pineapple, which uses red and blue tone-on-tone prints and a series of plaids cut on the bias. The instructions, however, focus on how to assemble a pineapple log cabin quilt (which, of course, has been covered in hundreds of quilting books as it is a traditional quit block) rather than how to select fabrics to make the composition work.
