I thought this book would teach vocabulary, but the main focus is on syllables - vowel, consonant patterns, putting syllables together, counting syllables, combining syllables to make a word, etc. I wouldn't think it would be very useful for most homeschoolers, but if your student is having difficulty putting words together, pronouncing words, or spelling words due to syllable issues, then it would be perfect for you. I would think along that line that it would also be useful for students with learning challenges that might make it necessary to break the words down more clearly.
