Sooo, I couldn't get to sleep last night and made the mistake of starting this book instead. I didn't fall asleep til I finished it at 5:30 am.
This is the first book I've read in this series, and I was impressed by how well it introduces the reader to the Breeds' world, considering it's book 16. Some of the family ties are initially confusing; I pretty much found it safe to assume that anyone in charge of anything was one of Leo's sons. In general, though, it's easy to keep track.
There's a plot to the book, industrial espionage and betrayal and such, but it's usually in the backseat while the Ria-Mercury romance zips right along. I agree with another reviewer that Ria's whole 'he has a dead mate so he can never really love me' thing got old, but she had a believable backstory for that. I'm glad they didn't play star-crossed the whole time. Also, FYI, there is a LOT of sex here. Lots and lots. Good scenes, too, though I rolled my eyes at a lot of Merc's dirty talk.
Anyway, good stuff. I can see myself rereading it before swapping.
