The titular Tomcat may be literature's most unreliable narrator. Self-centered, verbose, arrogant . . and undeniably funny as he wends his Quixotic way through a forest of females, all of whom (in his mind) lust endlessly for him, as he pines for his ex-wife and plots more and more outrageous ways to get her back.
