Marshmallow Malice is the fifth installment in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series set in the small Amish community of Harvest, Ohio and featuring Bailey King, chocolatier at her family owned Swissmen Sweets. The big day has finally arrived... Juliet Brody is set to marry Reverend Simon Brook. But of course, nothing involving Juliet is without mishaps including a hair emergency, a maid of honor dress that looks like an upside down cupcake, and a pet pig who decides to indulge in the marshmallow frosted wedding cake. Not to mention the drunk wedding crasher who attempts to stop the nuptials.
When Bailey goes to the church the next morning to clean up after the wedding she discovers the body of the wedding crasher dead on the front steps. It's no surprise when Reverend Brook, whom the woman had accused of being a traitor, becomes the prime suspect. Bailey knows in her heart that the kind man could not have committed the crime and she sets out with the help of her boyfriend, Sheriff Deputy Aiden Brody (Juliet's son) and best friend, Cass to track down the real killer. Her investigation uncovers a ring of moonshiners and sadly the well kept secret that someone close to her is a recovering alcoholic.
Another delightful addition to the series offers a fast paced and hilarious plot that also includes further insight into the workings of the Amish lifestyle. The return of many series regulars transports you right back into the heart of Harvest, with Jethro once again being the star of the show. The inclusion of recipes and mouthwatering descriptions of the sinful treats that Bailey and her family create will leave you drooling for the next installment in the series.
