I wasn't prepared to like this book as much as I did, but it really got to me. Farrah Fawcett's bravery and sweetness came through on every page, and I find I admire her more now for having read this book. The writing was plain and no frills, but very moving. Farrah's battle was harrowing and ugly; her determination to live was inspirational and beautiful. Alana Stewart proved to be a wonderful friend, and the spiritual and personal growth she herself made during the course of their journey was very powerful; a success story on top of all the sadness.

At the same time, I just wish Ms. Stewart didn't possess the streak of flakiness she revealed in the book. Passsages such as: "My astrologer doesn't like the date of Farrah's surgery tomorrow. Mercury is still in retrograde...she'd like her to wait until next Wednesday..." really aggravated me. Oy. Palm-slap to forehead more than once. But overall, it didn't affect my impression of the book negatively to any great extent. This is a surprisingly powerful book. Very recommended, as long as you are prepared for the very unhappy ending.

**** Four stars!
