O.k. so I'm still trying to catch my breath! I just finished reading....and that was...scary.
This book was a pretty complete departure from the others in the series but, still classic PB and expertly written in that wonderful voice she uses for her characters.
The first difference in this book from the others was that it pretty much all Adam and Mercy all the time. That was cool with me because I love, love them together and I can't get enough. The hottness of their honeymoon was mostly just alluded to rather than described which was a little diappointing to me. I know this is not a series like that and I wouldn't want it to be but, there have been some pretty hot scenes in the past and I would have liked one for the honeymoon! (See end of Silver Borne...woo-wee) It was nice to see a different, less tough side of the both of them and see how in love they are with one another. The wedding was perfect A and M. LOVED IT!!
The next difference was the supporting characters were all pretty much new comers to the Mercy universe. In the begining there was a little interaction with the series regulars. (Stefan!! Yea!!) However the meat of the story was told out of the Tri-Cities and away from those we all know and love. Now that said these new characters were likable and many pretty well developed. One in particular left me wanting more....and I think that will be delivered. I always felt Mercy not knowing more about her "Walker" heritage was dangerous and she was able to gain some insight and will possibly gain some more. Wow..that was one scary critter, the scariest Mercy had ever faced maybe, she had me biting my nails!
My only complaint with the book, the only thing that kept it from the coveted 5 star review from me was the absence of the regulars spacifically, Samuel. Where on earth was he...he didn't even have much of a part in the wedding. No words of wisdom, no toast...come on I needed something from him. There was one tiny hint at his relationship with the fae woman, nothing more on that. I needed to know Samuel was alright after the events in Silver Borne.
I love, love this series! All I can say is PB write faster, PLEASE!!! This is an intelligent, action filled, kick ass series with a heroine you can be proud of. Start at the begining with Moon called and you won't be sorry you did!!
