This book does give you a little more detail into the movie. Not much, but a little bit more. Just more in depth look at their thoughts through their perils. It does follow rather closely to the movie, though it does leave out all the songs, which I can understand but the songs helped the story in my opinion, especially when Jareth sings that he moves the stars for no one (that wasn't in the book). All in all a good read, if you're a fan you'll love this book.
