I was hooked from the get-go. The story is very intriguing. None of the surprises were all that surprising, but that didn't lessen my enjoyment of the book.

For the record: I see the book is classified as romance. I think that's an error. There's not even a romantic subplot (which I appreciate, but for those looking for romance, you won't find it here).
