Demon: A Memoir by Tosca Lee was a wonderful read. Lee's writing is superb. Although much of the story takes the form of dialog, it was suspenseful and kept me turning those pages.
I also appreciated the biblical story told from such a unique and possibly controversial perspective. It really did show God's love for mankind, and I honestly didn't expect that before I read the novel. Along with that, I thought the story spoke volumes about how easily we can judge others without knowing what is really going on in their lives, something we all need to be reminded of daily.
It was easy to relate to Clay, the main character. His emotions and interactions felt genuine.
This isn't a novel for someone who wants a typical happy ending. Clay has to make a choice, and Lee leaves the story open-ended, allowing the reader to make their own decision about what happens. This greatly added to the whole idea behind the story, so it was very fitting in my opinion. I'm really looking forward to Lee's next novel.
