Sierra Madrid - Woman of today. Bold. Determined. Her life is about to be turned upside down.
Mary Kathryn McMurray - Young pioneer on the Oregon Trail. She is filled with anger at being uprooted from her home.
Two women, centuries apart, are joined through a tattered journal as they contend with God, husbands - even themselves - until they fall into the arms of the One who loves them unconditionally.
In The Scarlet Thread, Mary's story is intertwined with the story of Sierra - a woman who's marriage is disintrigrating because of her husband's choices & her own reactions to them. Sierra's readings from her ancestor's (Mary) diary parallel her own life in many ways. As the story unfolds, you see how God works in the hearts of the stubborn & moves in their situations to bring glory unto Himself. I really enjoy Francine River's writing and this is another good read.
