This is the book that turned me from engineering back to being an English major. Cheesy, but true. This retelling of a Scottish myth is both overly dramatic and very very fun. The writing is dense with literati (glitterati?) and the side characters have little universes of their own that we get precious glimpes into. Wonderful redo of a fairy tale.
