This was my first Wingate book; I'd stumbled across it because it looked interesting, and I was quite impressed by it. I've since read Tending Roses, and this was the stronger of the two books.
There were elements in here that reminded me of Carolyn Haines' non-mysteries, Touched and Summer of the Redeemer, both of which are books I loved.
All three are worth it, but personally, I'd skip Tending Roses.
