This is a Christmas story, but not a typical syrupy sweet one. The time period is 1943 and the war plays a role in the plot, both at home and in battle. The story is about family relationships, assumptions we make, and the damage they can do.

It's the authors first novel which is apparent in a few places, but overall this is a strong reading experience. The story continues in the book titled The Homecoming.
