This book is 580 long pages, and is worth every minute.
This is book 2, Book one was the ROOK. This book will cover some past events, which helped jogged my memory on how we got here to book 2. But I could see you reading book 2 first. But why would you ? Book one is so great too
Ok about the author, the went to college at MSU Michigan State Univ and then got another degree at Ohio State Univ. In general if you live in Michigan you know you dont like Buckeyes, (esp if you are a wolverine UofM) no matter which Michigan University you attend. Then the author moved back to Australia and writes a book set in England.
Got all that.
So the author knows rivalry. He knows early indcotrination that MI hates OH, and how one grows up not even knowing why.
This book covers groups of rivals trying to make peace, and a third group called the Antagonists try to stop the two groups from merging and calling a truce. There is layer upon layer of twists, turn, plot development, that will all come together well, and not that annoying tied it up with a bow ending. This is a very good story, just a good as any political espionage thriller but with a whole supernatural element, and some hi tech scifi, elements.
I found it unbelievable clever how all the stories came together. I love, near the ending how the title is explained. I secretly had a suspect and I was wrong, no red herring, it was my fanciful thinking.
I really liked the two main characters, and loved how they grew during the story.
