This next book review is one that was somewhat of a different plot and I enjoyed this debut read from a new author.
This book is based around the time frame of The World Fair in Chicago, IL. I found this aspect pretty interesting as I often travel to Chicago and I love history! The Pursuit of Lucy Banning was a good read and one of those that you enjoy without even realizing where the time went. There are a lot of little sub plots in this book as well.
Lucy is somewhat forward thinking in her views of women attending college and learning things instead of just being wallflowers for some man. I do think she was kind of deceptive in her attending college without her parents knowing, them thinking she was helping out children at an orphanage. I realize things were worked out later but at the same time, it was deceptive and the aunt was helping out. Charlotte is one of the minor characters but I can't help being happy that the next book in this series is about her! I actually loved her character and couldn't help feeling sorry for her at times.
Overall a good book that was a great opening to this new series. Can't wait to read the next one and find out more about Charlotte. Great debut novel!
Available May 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
