Age R: 13+ It's actually 12+ but I just don't think I'd want a 12 year old reading certain things in this book, it's not anything super traumatizing for 12 year olds I suppose, but if this were a movie, I'd rate it pg-13.
Thoughts:
This one is a really good read and original. I really like that it talks about beauty, art, geocaching, China, adoption, and a lot of other topics. :) I never even heard about geocaching before and now I'm definitely interested, it sounds really fun!
Terra is a sixteen year old girl who loves art, even if her father tells her that her collages are awful. She has a port wine stain which her father basically says is making her ugly. Her father is a horrible verbally abusive guy that treats her and her mother with so much cruelty at times that it just makes you so sad for Terra and all she has to deal with. Her father manages to lower Terra and her mother's self esteem by telling them not nice things often. He's such an a-hole! You will come to HATE him.
Terra and her mother accidentally crash with another vehicle. And that's when she meets Jacob. The adopted hot Asian guy who can relate to her port wine stain, but his scar does not bother him at all, he still holds his head high. Terra needs to learn to do that instead of trying her best to change her face.
Terra has other issues than her dad believe it or not. She has a boyfriend who's not that great and when she meets Jacob and is still with her boyfriend...well there's a bit of drama. :D hehe
This book is an awesome read I highly recommend it.
