The premise and story had great promise, but fell a bit short. Mostly for me it was the author's writing style that was very distracting, going off on long descriptive tangents discribing people or events that had little or nothing to do with the plot, while in some cases entertaining, certainly distracting from the story. As for the mystery part, very weak in deed, altough Jillian knows who did the deed, thanks to all the cats who witnessed it, there is really very little plot development towards solving or proving the murder. The author then wraps everything up, with a little bit of vigilatnte justice, only to find out that given a few more days, the sherriff would have wrapped it all up easily.
The characters are great, real and very likeable, it was a plesant and very quick read, more about Jillian and her life than a cozy mystery.
