I was really excited to read this book for a long time and I was very disappointed.
It's a very short book and most of it the author spends talking about her and her life and her family. The focus of this book doesn't seem to be about Danvers State Asylum, but about the author and how she came to be there. There's one or two short "chapters" (if you can call them that) that actually focus on Danvers State.
For someone who worked there for so long, I would have liked to read the authors memories of individuals or more about the conditions, then about her children and family.
Very disappointing.
