Book Review of The Supernaturals

At almost 490 pages, this was waaaaay toooooo long, and I gave up about half-way through. Although the haunting within the house seemed interesting and had promise, the narrative spends so much time detailing the behind-the-scenes shenanigans at the Hollywood and Corporate offices of the company planning their Halloween fright-fest in the house, and the backstory of all the members of what I assume will be the team known as The Supernaturals (including the woman possessed by a dead songwriter, huh?) that it tried my patience beyond the breaking point. There were many references to, and steals from, The Haunting of Hill House, "...but Sir, you are no Shirley Jackson." For more satisfying and less padded haunted house books, try Dorothy Macardle's The Uninvited or Michael McDowell's The Elementals.
