This has been my favorite cookbook for about 20 years. It has a lot of true Texas Cooking in it. The desserts are wonderful. It was the first time I saw the recipe for Velveeta Cheese Fudge, which has become a staple here. The Buttermilk Pie is great, as are the pecan pies. For Breakfast, try a french fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich for your kids. Not everything in here is artery-hardening, but if you are extremely health conscious I would skip it. IF you get it, don't forget to try the Birdwell Casserole - great for taking to a potluck - or the Hamburger Cornpone pie.
