Fans of "The Princess Bride" will probably love Romancing the Duke. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here since that movie didn't do anything for me and neither did this book.
Tessa Dare is an entertaining writer, so I finished it, but I didn't much care for the fairytale theme. I can't go into details without being spoilerish, but there seemed to be no reason at all for the presence of a secondary character, Miss Abigail Pelham, except to get in the way. I sympathized with the Duke in his annoyance with the Moranglians, because they aannoyed me too. Plus, the subplot about the Duke's crooked solicitors was pretty flimsy and the resolution was never even explained. In fact the whole plot was kind of silly, but maybe that was the point, and I'm missing it, that the whole thing was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.
