Wow, that's quite an impressive story. Such a terrifying ordeal and to have been based on fact, well, it's hard to wrap your head around it. The birds, the stac, the isolation, all of it's so vivid. But all the while the underlying why/what happened screams at you. I was hard pressed to not jump ahead or research on the internet, and I was half dreading the fate of the marooned group, always waiting for the worst to happen. I missed the quiet clues in the beginning, but they're revisited in the end so that it all comes together for the reader. The mini bird dictionary was a welcome and handy addition, especially since they are integral to the story. Be sure to catch the author's enlightening notes at the end. Despite the group's struggle to survive and the inevitable hopelessness and despair, Where the World ends is really a beautiful and riveting read. 4 stars
