This book shows the stigma of having divorced parents, being a girl that wants to be on a basketball team, the struggles of moving and having your life uprooted and having to be shared between two parents that have gone separate ways.
This book does not have drama that often goes with divorce...they left that out which I appreciate.
I think this book does a good job teaching kids about the 70s better than some of the other historical books. Perhaps this is because it was not as long ago as the colonial era. As with many American Girl books this story has a strong feminist vibe.
