In my experience, any novel in the Proper Romance line is a sure bet! Promised offers just the right amount of romantic angst that keeps Margaret and Gregory's relationship teetering between yearning and misunderstandings without ripping out one's guts. It's tender and poignant where it counts, and is also sure to please genre fans who never tire of Pride and Prejudice similarities. 4 stars.
