While an interesting story, some of the subject matter wasn't to my liking, but it has to do with a person Drinkwater met very early on in his career. In this book Drinkwater defeats an old, hated enemy, but loses a good friend.

Finally, the ending of this book seems to be a retelling of a story line in "Flashman's Lady" by George Fraser. And Fraser's book pre-dates Woodman's book by 11 years.
