The Haunted Heist is the third installment in the Southern Ghost Hunters mystery series. The series centers around main character Verity Long, her pet skunk Lucy and her ghostly roommate Frankie.
Still down on her luck, Verity is overjoyed when Bank President Reggie Thompson, uncle to her best friend Lauralee, offers her a job handling the banks marketing and PR. Unfortunately the day of her interview Reggie is found murdered inside the locked bank vault. His injuries bear similarity to the marks left on victims by long dead Handsome Henry, the ace hit man for the South Town Gang.
With the help of Frankie and handsome police officer Ellis Wydell, with whom Verity is still trying to figure out a relationship, they set out to prove that a long dead ghost can not still be capable of murder. Their investigation reunites them with some familiar faces from the library (previous books in the series) and takes the trio into tunnels under the bank as well as crypts in the cemetery.
This is a fun laugh out loud series, readers will remember that Verity unknowingly dumped Frankie's ashes into her rose garden and together they are trying to find a way that Frankie can go on into the after life. While this particular storyline does have an ending there is a definite cliff hanger that will have you wanting more in the fourth installment.
