Pleading the Fish is the seventh and final installment in the Seaside Cafe Mysteries series. Set in the charming Outer Banks community of Charm, North Carolina, Everly Swan is running her Sun, Sand and Tea Shop and gearing up for her wedding to Detective Grady Hays. Everly is still convinced that her family carries a curse and something is going to happen to Grady, so she hires local historian Susan Thames to do a little digging.
Sadly, Susan ends up dead at the bottom of a wishing well and Everly is devastated. Did her family curse carry over to Susan? Evidence suggests that Susan was murdered and Everly with the help of family and friends becomes desperate to find her friends killer so that she can walk down the aisle with Grady.
A page turning afternoon read with all of the characters you've grown to love. The mystery was entertaining, Lou the seagull and Maggie the cat play pivotal roles in tracking down the killer, and the bond between Everly, Grady and his son Denver grows even stronger. The last few pages are dedicated to where our seaside friends are in the future, and the updates will bring out a few tears, I'm sure. Very sad to see this series come to an end, but the author did a fantastic job wrapping up life in Charm.
