At the end of His Majestys Dragon the brother of the Chinese emperor makes a list of demands on Captain Laurence. The only one Laurence's honor will let him carry out is that Temeraire -- and Larence-- will travel to China. Prince Yongxing makes several unsuccessful attempts on the life of Laurence and all those onboard the Allegiance, but is ultimately unsuccessful.
These books, based on Horatio Hornblower, with noods to Cornwell's Sharpe series and O'Brien's Aubrey & Maturin. But also are well- regarded by readers of fantasy. I, who enhales *both* fantasy and historical fiction, am thrilled.
