A short read but very interesting to me because of the insight given into the life of Chinese women in the 19th century, the footbinding and pre-marriage and marriage rituals, daily life for a woman--for me basically from a perspective as one woman in the world to another. This book tends to go into more detail than most others I've read regarding the above. The two main characters are likable and the story is told from an elderly womans perspective towards the end of her life.
