This story is so improbable that I had a hard time finishing it. I really do not like the use of amnesia in stories. On the positive side, the author writes an engaging tale, with lots of twists.
The story starts near the end of the Revolutionary War. Rahab, because she wants to be part of the patriots' side in the war, is sent with a message to a tavern where there are only prostitutes plying their trade with redcoats. When a redcoat grabs Rahab, she kills him. However, she is saved by Jerico Smith, the man who was waiting for the message.
Rahab suddenly does not know who she is. Jerico tells her that she is a whore. Rahab accepts his word. Then Rahab's family arrives and tells her who she really is (a lady).
Rahab tells a courier that her name is Ashley (her sister-in-law) and she is abducted. Then, the action moves to England and the story really gets strange. It turns out that Jerico is really Geoffrey Hunter-Smythe, the Earl of Stanhope, and he wants to recover his lands that have been stolen from him.
Overall, I was disappointed in this novel. Frankly, I don't consider rape to be entertainment.
