Being a fan of the "Wicked Lovely" books, I expected this to be... at least decent. That it was marketed as a not-YA book, I had hopes it would be intelligent and sophisticated.
Unfortunately, it reads more like an abandoned first novel before she got a better idea. It's just... sloppy and weak and self indulgent. I've read fan fiction that meandered less.
The heroine behaves like a lost 16 yr old. I don't have any empathy for her. The history of the family takes too long, and the ghosts disappearing randomly isn't ever explained. Everything getting explained away smacks of plot holes being filled in.
I liked the concept, but the execution was lacking.
