Very interesting novel based on actual events related to Battle of Franklin, TN, during the War Between the States. Much of the battleground surrounded the farms nearby, and this is an account of one family's experience of having their home used as a hospital. When the grounds nearby were to be farmed after the war, the family relocated the dead to establish a cemetery on their lands.
