This is the 4th in a series featuring DC Gary Goodhew. DC Goodhew is a young man (not yet 30) with some inner demons that he erases by swimming.. a lot. Very close to his grandmother, he knows almost nothing about his family. Grandma has instilled in him a sense of pride in what he does, even if he is known to break a rule here and there.
The book starts out like a gentle Spring rain and builds up to a wicked thunderstorm with lots of lightning.
There are 7 young people sharing a house while they attend school. Two of the housemates have siblings that have died by suicide. Not everyone believes that ... and not DC Goodhew... especially after 2 more members of the house are found dead.
Most of the characters, being young, are likeable. A couple of them made me want to take them by the shoulders and give them a good shaking. The parents of all these kids made me sad and angry. Seems like everyone has a secret ... and will do anything to protect them.
I highly recommend the series. There is always something new, something exciting going on. It's also fun watching the regular characters interact with each other ... especially his colleagues.
