Granted this starts out a bit boring but after a couple chapters it catches my attention and it was hard to put it down. I still rate it 5 stars out of 5.

Ella works in a museum and just had a bad run in with one of the big donate people for the museum. When shes takes a breather after the run in and voices out a problem to the gargoyle 'Sir Arthur' about hes there to keep evil out. Well with in a few more minutes she has another run in with someone bad. Well now she has bigger problems to face since Sir Arthur has came alive and protects her from the threat.

Kees has sleeps for thousands of years only waking up when hes stone self switches protectors through out he slumber. Now he is awoken not by his protector but by a women that has more magic then he thought. Kees is on a mission to load off this women with his warden/ protector and to asses how much evil as established on earth while he was sleeping. Ella helps locate his warden but comes to a screeching halt when the warden was murders as well as the home base or headquarters of wardens that are there to keep evil at a minimum.

Now Ella and Kees are in a race against time to find remaining members of the Guild- the headquarters. They find a survivor that helps answer questions but doesn't live til the next day from being killed but the evil minions-what I am calling the idiots that are out to destroy the world. In the series of bad events Kees as a gargoyle should not have human feelings but through out this book he is fighting very heard to distance himself from Ella and the emotions she causes with in his stony interior.
