Although not the best Star Wars novel (or novelization) ever written, this one isn't bad. There is actually qquite a lot that is good about "Dark Rendezvous". Unlike some others, I actually enjoyed the strong characterization of Yoda and having the opportunity to see Yoda truly interact with students. Unfortunately, I think the story tried to be complex and only succeeded in being a bit contrived. I couldn't make up my mind whether it was about Yoda... or Dooku... or Scout... or even some higher principle.
The bottom line is that the author did a fairly good job with the characters, but somewhat less with the actual story.
