It is important to read these stories in order; INDIGO BLUE is the third novel in this exciting series. This story takes place in Wolf's Landing, Oregon in 1885. The two children of white Loretta and Comanche Hunter of the Wolf (from COMANCHE MOON and COMANCHE HEART are now adults -- this is Indigo Wolf's story.
In an earlier book, Indigo fell in love with a white young man who ultimately betrayed her trust and called her a 'squaw', good for only one thing. Although saved from rape by her uncle, Indigo carries deep scars and is not interested in getting married or having a romantic relationship with any man.
Accidents start to happen at Hunter Wolf's mines and he is terribly injured by one. Hunter is near the point of selling out when Jake Rand comes to him and offers his services as a foreman until Hunter can return to work. Indigo, as Hunter's right hand, is the one to explain the accidents and the work being done to Jake.
I had a couple of problems with this story. First, Jake didn't spend too much time at work and Fr. O'Grady seemed to have divulged to Jake some of Indigo's confession, which simply isn't done in reality. Otherwise, this was a fascinating story, like all the others of this series.
Comanche
1. Comanche Moon (1991)
2. Comanche Heart (1992)
3. Indigo Blue (1992)
4. Comanche Magic (1994)
