This book is highly reccomended - the recepies are a great mix of traditional canning recipes and newer recipes. Examples would be Old Fashioned Apple Butter vs. Apple Cider butter. It is also full of information on canning, however if you"ve never canned before I would look for a book on beggining canning (such as the Ball Blue Book) to help hone your skills. Unlike some "canning" books the recipes in this book are all canning recipes, not recipes using the items you have canned. (Although it does make suggestions as to the best way to use certain sauces, etc.)
