I liked this book! This is one in a long series of books about Qwilleran, a journalist who is semi-retired who lives in Pickax, a small town "400 miles north of everywhere" who gets involved in local mysteries and receives the help of his smart Siamese cat, Koko, who senses things and communicates with yowls and tail wagging and other such things.

This is my second one. It doesn't seem important to read them in order. (And I am not sure Qwilleran lives in Pickax in every book.)

Qwill is well-read, likes good food, doesn't drink, smoke or cuss. He is a devoted companion to the head librarian. The townfolk are mostly likeable, with some eccentrics thrown in, as you would expect.

This one is about petty thefts, historical renovations, charming men and a beautiful but annoying woman who tries too hard. Oh, and a couple of deaths.

I was interested in the story, read it quickly and will probably read others!
