"This is one of the most disparaging books we have seen. It is filled with misinformation, such as 'The Indians worshipped the forces of Nature.' Children are taught to make costumes, such as paper bag vests, breechcloths, and headdresses, so they can 'dress up like Indians.' Other activities include making a 'peace pipe' from a toilet paper tube, creating war bonnets, and carving fetish necklaces out of soap, all of which involve sacred objects or materials. Specifics as to why these activities, as well as other in this book, are so inappropriate are covered in chapter 1" (of Lessons from Turtle Island).
