Emily Mandel's fictional account of a pandemic worse than COVID-19 was amazingly predictive. The story follows survivors 1, 5, 10, and 20 years post-pandemic, through difficult, terrifying, and sometimes uplifting times. The continuing theme, "Survival is Insufficient," gave me pause during our own difficult time.
