This story has the sensual heat of a Barbara Cartland novel (barely there) but what it does have is strong character development and a sweet, satisfying plot. I don't think I've ever read a tale detailing such a vivid medical viewpoint and the deep sacrifices the military men and their families were forced to make. I was fascinated, but I missed the physical romance. Even so, The Surgeon's Lady is worth reading, but I give it only 3.2 stars because I prefer that physical love is balanced with an otherwise strong romance.
