This is a difficult book to describe. It is confusing in the beginning as it jumps from a storyline in the past to a storyline in the present and it seems they are not connected. Still, it reeled me into both and I wanted the answers to be found. The protagonist, Taylor, is living at the Jellicoe School where she was taken in by Hannah after her mother abandoned her years earlier. She has no memory of her life before and she has built defenses to keep everyone out because she won't allow the possibility of being hurt or abandoned again. Events occur that force her to realize she has come to love people in her life. Hannah disappears and there is talk of a serial killer as kids have gone missing. As she searches for answers to Hannah's disappearance, she discovers her past and where she belongs. It is quite a journey, confusing at times, but worth it in the end. A beautiful and moving read.
