The author may be a veterinarian, but she isn't showing much knowledge in a lot of ways. Not a lot of care for animals other than her dog, Lyle.

She needs to learn how to actually raise orphaned and injured wildlife before coming up with these weird ideas. Wearing a mask so they don't see her face? Good grief. Not holding, cuddling and showing affection to orphaned wild animals is as cruel as raising a human baby with no contact. They've lost their mother. What in the world makes her think that not being the mother substitute is a good thing?! I've successfully raised and released orphaned wildlife for 43 years, with very few fatalities. And cared for injured animals with equal success.

An orphaned baby animal needs someone to hold them, clean them, feed and love them. It does NOT make it harder for them to adjust to the wild. It makes it easier for them to survive. They need to hear their "momma" breathing and talking. Need to feel her heartbeat. Leaving an orphaned baby animal without that love and care is cruel.

And trying to solve the murder because she doesn't think that this ideal town (no such thing) shouldn't be damaged by the murder.

No, I won't read another.
